Pronghorns Force 37 Turnovers To Down Centurions 77-42

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Both the Gillette College Pronghorns and the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the first half, but Gillette was able to pull away in the second half for a 77-42 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Pronghorns and Centurions couldn’t find the bottom of the bucket through the first few minutes of the ballgame before Gillette broke the scoreless tie. That lead would never change as the Pronghorns would build their lead steadily throughout the rest of the game. Neither team shot the ball particularly well in the first half: Yellowstone shot 32% (7 of 22), Gillitte shot 37% (14 of 38).

However, the Centurions went cold offensively in the second half, converting on only 19% (5 of 26) of all shot attempts. YCC also didn't take care of the basketball, turning the ball over 37 times, only creating more problems for their struggling offense.

The Centurions didn't see any player score over ten points on Saturday. Leonardine John and Sharnell Thomas both scored nine points to pace the offense. Tiani Alvarez scored eight points and dished out five assists. Tayler Calf Boss Ribs, who averages nearly eight points per contest, was held scoreless on Saturday afternoon, something she hadn't done all season.

Julia Robarge led the charge for the Pronghorns with 17 point. Azhane Bufford picked up a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
